Connect your server

  1. Prepare a Hermes 0.21.3+ dashboard reachable from your phone. Set the dashboard’s public URL to the same address you will use in the app.
  2. In SommoHermes choose Add server, enter the HTTPS address and your host’s credentials, if required.
  3. Open Connection options only if your proxy needs additional headers or Cloudflare Access tokens. Browser OAuth sign-in does not yet have an Android interface.
  4. Tap Connect, then + to create a chat. Check the bot and project before sending a message.

Frequently asked questions

Does the app include a server or AI subscription?

No. You need to operate a Hermes host or use a server you are authorized to access. Its operator chooses models, providers, tools and costs. The built-in preview only shows demonstration data.

How do I download and install the app?

Download the 0.1.4 APK, open it on your phone and follow Android’s prompt to allow installation from your browser or Files app. Publication on Google Play is awaiting approval.

How do I update the app?

Install the new APK over the existing version. The download keeps the Google Play distribution signature; updates require the same package and signing key. Earlier development builds with a different signature cannot update directly.

My phone cannot reach the server

Check the address in your phone’s browser, the HTTPS certificate and any required VPN. localhost refers to the phone itself: use your server’s address. Connections from the same LAN may require local DNS configuration on your router. The app does not bypass TLS errors.

Can I view reasoning and tools?

Chat uses compact activity status by default. Enable Show activity details in the chat menu, then open an individual row. Disabling the option hides the contents again; questions and approvals remain visible.

How do I report an AI response?

Choose Report response from the reply’s menu. Review and edit the excerpt, select a reason, then tap Send report. The text in the form and the reason are sent to the developer’s service. Remove confidential information before sending. Opening or canceling the form sends nothing.

Why is a feature unavailable?

Features depend on server version and installed plugins. Legacy hermes-webui connections offer fewer features. Local voice requires Android 12+ and offline voice resources; the app does not automatically substitute a cloud recognizer.

How do I remove connections and data?

Clear offline data removes the selected server’s local cache. Remove server removes its connection, credentials, drafts and cache from the phone; host chats and files remain on the server. Read the full privacy policy for other operations.

Requirements

Android 8.0 or later; app interface in English. Microphone and notifications are optional. Local voice conversation requires Android 12 or later, an on-device recognizer and available languages. This is not an official Nous Research app.
