HERMES SERVER
A complete archive with the APK, phone_browser tool, server installer, optional ADB installer, guides and checksums. The server operator installs it for each profile that needs to control the phone.
Download plugin and scriptsSetup
Configure permissions once. Future chats use the remembered trust for that server and the same signed-in identity.
Full guide →Extract the archive on your Hermes server and run sh install-server.sh from the extracted directory to install and enable the plugin. For a secondary profile such as mauro, run sh install-server.sh --home "$HOME/.hermes/profiles/mauro". Restart the processes listed in the guide to load the plugins.
Open the APK on your phone and allow Android to install apps from that browser or Files app if prompted. Open SommoHermes Assistant and configure your server’s HTTPS address and sign-in.
In Android Accessibility settings, enable the SommoHermes Assistant service. If Android restricts this setting for apps installed from files, first open the app’s system information page and allow restricted settings. In the chat, open Conversation tools → Phone browser and grant trust to your server.
Send a message from the app to activate control for that chat. With the browser open, tap the bar’s microphone to answer; allow microphone access on the first request. The pencil offers keyboard entry. Stop ends browser control.
Phone browser
Navigation, taps, typing, scrolling and form submission in your default browser run without per-action confirmations once you grant initial trust.
A compact capsule shows a microphone and audio-level bars. Short sounds mark the start of an interaction and new questions, respecting volume, silent mode and Do Not Disturb.
Control lasts up to 15 minutes and ends on Stop, screen lock, disconnection or a chat/server change. Trust remains saved; a new explicit Send can activate control again.
Visible page text and action results reach your Hermes server and its configured model. Voice recognition runs on the device, without automatically falling back to cloud speech services.
This is a separate app with package cc.sommomi.sommohermes.assistant, a local signature and the name SommoHermes Assistant. It installs alongside the standard edition and does not automatically share its accounts or settings. Assistant updates require the same package and signature.
The app requires Android 8.0+. On-device voice answers require Android 12+ and a recognizer with the language available locally. Browser control was verified with Chrome on Android 14 and Hermes 0.22.6 with the companion plugin. Other pages, browsers and Android versions may behave differently. Legacy hermes-webui connections do not offer this feature.
Check that it is installed in the Hermes home of the selected profile. Some Hermes builds need a server-side fix for secondary profiles’ tool catalogs. The included guide describes the verified Hermes 0.22.6 case and which processes to reload.
Use Stop on the bar or in the app to end current control. Revoke remembered trust in Conversation tools → Phone browser. You can also disable the service in Android Accessibility settings.
